By day, this vibrant market is bustling with stalls selling heaps of fresh jungle fruits like guanabana and mamey, whole suckling pigs, Caribbean spices and delicious San Juan-style street food. In the evenings, the adjacent plaza, which is surrounded by bars and restaurants, is a laid-back nightlife hangout for locals and an artsy crowd. On Thursday and Friday nights, however, there's a block party, with people bouncing from cantina to cantina and dancing in the streets to salsa until dawn. It's an experience you won't have anywhere else.
