Stortorget Square
In Sweden, December 13th is St. Lucia’s Day, when a local girl chosen by the town to represent St. Lucia in white garments and a candlelit wreath in her hair leads a procession through the city and sing from a balcony overlooking Stortorget Square. It’s a 400-year-old celebration of light on one of the darkest days of the year, and the square itself is turned into a magical festival of lights, while the air is filled with singing from local choirs and the belly by goblets of mulled wine.
