OKC Nat'l Memorial
A testament to the resilience of the American people and a symbol of hope, healing, and justice, this monument is truly inspirational.
A dark day in Oklahoma City history, April 19, 1995 was the day of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing. On that day, 168 victims lost their lives, and the nation's history and the lives of those affected were irrevocably changed. This living monument is comprised of two parts, the museum and the outdoor memorial to honor those who lost their lives. It also aims at educating visitors on the effects of violence. Especially poignant are the 168 vacant chairs dedicated to each victim in the Field of Empty Chairs, and the Survivor Wall with its 600 inscribed names. This impactful memorial tells the story of that terrible day, as well as the people who fought for justice and peace in its aftermath. Interactive, engaging, touching, and educational, this is an essential visit while in the city.
