<p>On April 7th , 1933 the Cullen-Harrison Act was enacted, starting the repeal of prohibition and enabling imbibers across the country to consume an alcoholic beverage with 3.2% alcohol by weight or less: Beer. This amount of alcohol was thought to be too low to cause intoxication. Because of this enactment people began to line up at their local pubs, bars and breweries on the evening of April 6th, effectively making this date New Beers Eve, with 1.5 million barrels of beer being consumed the following day.
