Izmir Clock Tower

Visit one of Turkey's most prominent landmarks and see if you can spot the Ottoman-influenced details in the architecture.
Izmir Clock Tower is one of the city's more iconic landmarks, situated in Konak Square in the heart of the port-adjacent district. Erected in 1901, the actual clock face was donated by Emperor Wilhelm II, although the rest of the tower is decidedly Turkish. Ottoman-inspired architecture is apparent in almost every detail of the tower, from the intricate iron and lead lattice work to the Moorish columns supporting the main extension of the building.
