Navigator Biography

Steeped in the proud traditions of Southern hospitality, Texan Art Rodriguez brings a can-do spirit and oodles of local knowledge to his role as Navigator at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel. Prior to settling in Dallas, Art lived and worked all across his home state, accruing 11 years of experience in various customer service roles. He believes his travels helped prepare him for the demands of being a Navigator, a position which, in his words, always keeps you on your toes. A stickler for organization, Art likes to have a place for everything and believes he has found his rightful place in the iconic Texas city. Dallas has that right mix of local flair and global appeal and that works just perfect for me, he reflects. Working from the Renaissance Dallas Hotel next door to the Dallas Market Center and close to the glitz of the West End Art is certainly at the heart of the action. Which is where he likes to be. He commends the colorful neighborhood for its ability to provide amazing food, a good drink and a great time. A typical day will see him go for tea on his way into work and enjoy a chicken and blue cheese brioche sandwich at his favorite lunch spot. On the whole, though, Art lives for spontaneity and likes to get out and experience as many different places as possible, using social media as his guide. Thankfully, his Southern hospitality extends to keeping guests and his fellow Navigators up to date on the best of his finds.

Rodeo Goat

Opt for one of their amazing burgers. House-ground beef and unusual toppings like candied bacon and blackberry compote pack the flavor.
Rodeo Goat brings its second location to Dallas, capitalizing on the success of its Forth Worth location with yet another great spot for some ice cold beers outdoors or in the shady interior. Rodeo Goat is a Texas-sized open bar with fun retro diner stools, an impressive list of grub, and a massive selection of beers served ice cold on the sprawling patio. The Traveling Man

A series of three sculptural installations metaphorically representing all that is Deep Ellum.
The Traveling Man Sculptures are found in three locations. All are on Good Latimer in Deep Ellum; the first is between Swiss Ave. and Miranda, the second is at Gaston and Good Latimer and the third is at Elm St. The best way to see the statues is to take DART to Deep Ellum station and walk south. You'll end up passing the sculptures along the way and end up at Deep Ellum Art Park.

Klyde Warren Park

An urban green space built over the recessed Woodall Rodgers Freeway.
A highly active space, KWP provides daily free public activities from yoga to concerts and films. My personal favorite feature is the food trucks! About 10 different food trucks all line up on the east side of the park and offer everything from Pan-Asian cuisine to lobster subs and of course personal pizzas! Grab a seat right after you order and enjoy the amazing view of the Dallas skyline.

Dallas Farmer's Market

The premier marketplace for the freshest meats and vegetables in Dallas.
The Dallas Farmer's Market has come a long way from where it used to be. It was definitely the hub of Dallas for fresh produce (as it still is now) but it has undergone major changes. Several key buildings were torn down and others were re-purposed. There is now Mudhen, an anchor restaurant and an indoor shopping plaza called The Market that's full of local vendors and plenty of food options!

The best souvenir shop in Dallas, hands down!
Bullzerk show "Dallas Pride" with the best versions of souvenirs yet! What started as a small T-shirt shop on Lower Greenville has evolved into the #1 gift shop in DFW selling hats, onesies, outerwear, posters, coasters, koozies, notebooks, glasses, and so much more!

Texas Discovery Gardens

A nature wonderland filled with beautiful gardens and an amazing butterfly house.
Texas Discovery Gardens is an insectarium located at Fair Park. This place is great for all ages, but caters to families with children looking to explore and discover something new. The butterfly house is my absolute favorite! So many colorful butterflies are within arms reach. This is the perfect place to bring a camera and capture some of nature's beauty!

El Bolero

Colorful, upbeat, and authentic Mexican restaurant offering great food and classic margaritas!
El Bolero has some of the best elote in the city! Their staff is so welcoming and make you feel at home during your evening out on the town. This spot is casual enough to relax with an old friend, but trendy enough for a business dinner.
