<p>While the apple pie actually got its start in England, the lemon meringue pie was born right here on American soil. This dessert gained its popularity from Abraham Lincoln as this was reportedly his favorite dessert while in the White House. A proper pie consists of a flakey, buttery bottom crust, a tart and sweet custard filling, and toasted, fluffy egg white meringue to top. For this pie celebration we have teamed with Alli, Bear, and Cat Blakely, the Pie Sisters of Georgetown. These sisters grew up baking fresh fruit pies with their mom and in 2010 turned their passion into a career.</p>
