Square House Museum

Come and check out the fascinating history and development of rye at this delightful museum.
The distinguished museum site of the Square House is popularly regarded as the widow Haviland's Tavern and a must-visit. The site has passed through the hands of almost 21 owners and currently serves as a historical museum. Built around 1730, it is now managed by the Historical Society of Rye. The house contains a wide variety of artifacts that chronicle the history and development of Rye over the years, and there are also a few rooms that have been refurnished so as to be representative of the styles prevalent during various historic periods. The museum is open daily and entry is free.
