Great Mecidiye Ortaköy Mosque

This building is one of the beautiful examples of Baroque architecture.
This building is one of several 19th century mosques that tower over the Ortaköy landing stage in Beşiktaş, as well as the European shore of the Bosporus. Abdülmecit procured the construction of the mosques by Nigoğos Balyan in 1853. Known as the Great Mecidiye Mosque, it is one of the most beautiful examples of Baroque architecture in Istanbul.
